Dr. Barrington grew up in Billings, Montana. He majored in computer science at M.I.T., in a special program in the industrial management school. He attended University of Minnesota Medical School and did his ophthalmology residency at the Mayo Clinic. He was in a private ophthalmology practice in southern Minnesota from 1975-2004. He joined the Ophthalmology Clinic staff at the Minneapolis VA Medical Center in 2004 and serves full-time on the teaching faculty there.
