The University of Minnesota offers an outstanding clinically-oriented training program in ophthalmology. Our graduates feel well-trained and comfortable entering private practice or the most competitive fellowships. All subspecialties are represented and expose our residents to dedicated teaching faculty and a wide variety of patients.
During the three-year program, training occurs at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and the affiliated teaching hospitals, which include Hennepin County Medical Center and the Veterans Administration Hospital. This unique blend of clinical sites affords varying levels of independence and teaching methods.
Our department strives to develop outstanding practitioners who also feel equipped to teach and perform clinical or basic science research.
